Testing & warranty
Used electronics should be sold with evidence, not wishful thinking. Our technicians check the equipment and the listing tells you what is included.
Functional testing
The exact checks depend on the equipment. A VCR may be tested for power, loading, playback, picture, sound, transport controls and remote response. A recorder may also be checked for tuning, storage, disc functions and relevant inputs or outputs.
Where an item is sold for parts or repair, the title and condition state that clearly. Never assume an untested feature is included unless the eBay listing says so.
Accessories and compatibility
The listing details state the remote controls, cables, adapters and manuals supplied. Model numbers matter: similar-looking remotes and decks are not always compatible.
If your television only has HDMI, look for a listing that includes a compatible converter, or read our guide to connecting a VCR to a modern TV.
Warranty information
Many of our tested electronics listings include a 12-month warranty. The warranty offered for a particular item is stated on its eBay listing and should be checked before purchase.
Warranty support is handled through the eBay order so we can verify the purchase date and listing terms. Accidental damage, misuse and unauthorised repair are not covered.
Cosmetic condition
Pre-owned equipment may have marks from normal use. A single-item listing shows the unit being sold. On a multi-quantity listing, photographs are representative of the same model and cosmetic condition, marks, labels and minor details may vary between units.
